Marriage to Audrey Hepburn
Burgenstock, Switzerland
September 25 1954

Although Audrey Hepburn and Mel Ferrer married privately a day earlier, they repeated their vows publicly at a small Protestant chapel in Burgenstock, Switzerland on September 25, 1954. It was a very small but elegant affair, for which the groom flew in two of his four children - Pepa and Mark - who were chaperoned by his younger sister Terry. The bride's mother also attended, along with a number of paparazzi, who waylaid the groom as he flew in from Italy where he was filming "Proibito."

The 37-year-old groom wore a navy suit with white tie, while the 25-year-old bride wore an ankle-length white organdy gown by her favorite designer, Givenchy.
